The Horse & Hound

3.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (264)
"Excellent room above a pub in a nice Irish village. Although the pub gets loud (on a Friday night), the room is quiet with the windows closed. Take the DART from Dublin and take the local bus for 2.60 euros. We walked from the DART station with our luggage as it was a nice autumn day, but we did not count on the elevation [we should have as we were literally starting at
sea
level]."

The Strand Hotel, the former residence of Oscar Wilde

3.5 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (217)
"Beautiful old historical hotel. Good view of the
beach
. Very welcoming and helpful staff! Our room was several flights up and there wasn’t an elevator, but staff took our bags up for us. Climbing the steps to our room was like climbing a mountain. Our room was either a closet or an attic with a very small window; there wasn’t a fan nor air conditioning so the space was ver confining. I sat on the toilet and my knees hit the sink."

"The hotel room was spacious and beautiful, and had wonderful old world amenities, but in a newly upgraded way. I love the fact that at night you could hear the ocean waves crashing across the street. Additionally, the staff was helpful and super pleasant. What a great place to stay and in a beautiful area!"

"Beautiful area and beautiful hotel! Upon arrival the guest services was lovely, she recommended we see their restaurant for a meal as we arrived late. The staff at the restaurant were accommodating to my husbands dietary restrictions. Our room was excellent, clean and spacious. The ability to purchase some of the products we used was wonderful as it was our first visit to Ireland. Now we can take home a piece of Ireland with us. Would stay again. Beautiful accommodations and area. 3 minutes from...
