Hotel was Ok clean, somewhat historic but food was nothing special, service was enthusiastic but just adequate

Lovely historic Inn

I like places with history. This on has over 100 years of it. It has been renovated and has a lot of the original building. Staff was very friendly.
Nice quiet place of the main freeway.

Amazing Place to Visit

I travel a lot for business and have stayed a lot of places, and none has been cleaner, more hospitable and have historic charm as The Elk Mountain Hotel. The restaurant prepares wonderful food, there is a VERY extensive bar/cocktail menu and the entire property is meticulously cared for. While enjoying a drink on the balcony we were able to watch 5 whitetail deer which grazed right in the front yard. Easy 10 out of 10.

Wonderful piece of Americana. Great craftsmanship. Excellent food with great waitstaff. Beware-no TV. Best part to me!! And no elevator.

Susanne was a one-gal show. She checked us in; gave us a cocktail menu; provided our meals with courtesy and a smile—-just a wonderful asset!
B/T/W: The last question is incredibly devisive, sexist and racist (why does the question not ask about appropriateness for Anglo, Canadian, Native American, Hetero and male travelers for example?). This property is good for all types of travelers; however, given its age, physically impaired persons may have difficulty with the stairs.
