Picturesque location, friendly staff
Beautiful location on the mountain, walk out the door and onto the trails. Quaint, rustic, comfortable, an open fire each night and delicious home cooking made for a relaxing stay. Dean and the staff really looked after us. A great two nights away.
This is a pretty place to stay. An antique property and is really maintained well. It is quiet, calm, and is within the park. The staff was really friendly and the food was delicious.
Great location to stay if you are planing to hiking in Mt Taranaki, great cafe and restaurant on site, but not shops near by, historical cottage with DC power supply
it was privileged to stay a couple of nights in the National Park and in the midst of high quality walks. The place has loads of history but you can see it is a bit tired after serving hikers and tourists for more than a century. We loved it and promised to come back in colder months.
Our 2 night stay was wonderfully restful even after walking Wilkins Pool and Dawson Falls trails. Staff we’re all very accommodating and friendly. We will send our friends.
Fabulous dinner meal prepared by Connor. Best meal on our trip. Room seemed tired and needed some repairs. Room also needed some better cleaning. Spiderwebs and dead flies everywhere. Room light switch was worn out and worked intermittedly. Veryblittle noise barrier between rooms. Could hear neighbors conversatiins.
There was no hot water to take a shower or wash your face. They have an electricity problem this year and can’t supply hot water on a regular basis. The bathroom was old and dark - especially since the lights didn’t always work. They have no business booking guests for $190 a night with this situation. I want my money back!

Diamond in the rough
Don’t stay at Dawson Falls if your looking for a modern hotel with amenities. You stay here if you want to spend time in nature - Falls are a few minutes away and excellent hikes from 1-4 hours in duration around the mountain. The food and hosts were excellent.
This is a hidden gem that deserves to be better known. Nestled in the bush on the slopes of Mt Taranaki is a peaceful retreat. The friendly staff go out of their way to make feel at home. The room was clean and comfortable with wonderful views. We enjoyed a very nice meal at night and a continental breakfast in the morning. A lovely relaxing stay.
