Great hotel in a great location! Some small issues with some staff (concierge pointing us to the exit and not helping when we were noticeably struggling with luggage, concierge telling us he had no idea where we could go hear Scottish music and walking away from us, having to chase down a server to order breakfast each morning, hotel staff telling us we couldn’t ride with them in the elevator even though there was room, front desk locking us out of our room at 11am even though they told us we had late checkout at 2pm ), but when we pointed it out to them they corrected the issues. Other staff including the doorman and housekeeping were exceptional! Recommend they tell guests that they test the fire alarms every Monday between 10-11am. Fortunately housekeeping staff stopped us as we were running out of the hotel because the alarm was going off.

Excellent location in old town, the whole staff is professional and friendly. The room and amenities were modern and perfect for us. We love the attention to hospitality at Virgin!

This hotel was my favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Exactly where you want to stay in Edinburgh with walking distance to everything. The room was large and design so nice. We loved it!

Loved the location, very quaint. Accessibility was good. Room was pleasant...but struggled to get wifi connection with Three mobile but O2 connection worked. Had a little bit of an issue with food trying to order lactose and gluten free foods was difficult and their options precluded one but not both which made it difficult they sent a rocket salad with rocket and cheese which had lactose. If eating out this wouldn't be an issue. They had a DJ for hogmanay but didn't give it enough Scottish Hogmanay Emphasis only counted fown the last 15 sconds and then straight into ABBA songs....fine if I was in Sweden but I felt it could have had a stronger scottish theme from the DJ and the crowd looked a little "Is that It?"

Rooms were REALLY small and our room was remote and loud. Staff were lovely but for a 5 star hotel I expect more.
