Nice friendly hotel

Pros: Everything
Location: Location is outside the towns you need a car to go anywhere even the local pubs.
Nice stay here. Owner very helpful and gave us lots of advice on areas to look at. Clean and comfortable with lots of extras. Breakfast delicious and very obliging hostess. She even cooked me 2 different sorts of porridge so that I could compare the 2 as I had never had oatmeal porridge before. Lots of beautifully cooked food for breakfast. Highly recommended

It was lovely meeting you both and my apologies for not replying sooner but there appears to have been an issue with notification of reviews on Expedia. Thank you for mentioning about our location, we are 1.3 miles from Linlithgow and on a summers evening there is lovely walk along the canal into town . Our guests have been blessed this year with the most fantastic weather hence many of them have walked into town and returned by taxi. Like you I am of the opinion that to truly see Scotland you require a car . There are so many wonderful out of the way places to see and visit, and for those wishing to use public transport the city breaks are ideal. It would be lovely to welcome you back when you are next in the area Kindest regards Beth

Excellent stay

A little out of the way but superb standard of accommodation and faultless service. Breakfast was delightful with nothing too much effort.

Best Room (and Breakfast) So Far

Pros: Clean, fresh, comfortable, welcoming, great Breakfast, everything seemed focused on good quality.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of !
Location: Great location, easy 10 minute drive or less in to Linlithgow, plenty of places to eat & drink.
Sadly this was only a one night stay before heading home. We were met by the owner on arrival & shown around the entrance lobby & guest lounge before going up to see our room, we chose The Morrison Room. The room was large with a super-king bed, very clean, it smelt fresh & aired. The room had plenty of storage, Tea & Coffee making facility & a few snacks. The Bathroom was large, clean with shower over bath with nice quality toiletries, towels etc. In the morning we had a superb cooked breakfast, but there was also a good selection of 'Healthier' items, fruit, cereals, juice etc. All in all a lovely place stay, shame we didn't have a few days longer.

The room was far too hot. There was a dog whining/ whelping through the night. The bathmat slipped from under me when getting out of the bath. There is no reception or phone in the room to request anything. I do not want anyone moving my belongings around when I am out of the room. No breakfast included but you can pay an extra £28.00 for it.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, I am sorry to read that your stay was not to your liking. I do so wish you had expressed your concerns during your stay to enable us to address them and to ensure that you had a pleasant stay , I would much have preferred to discuss your concerns in person however I would like to take the opportunity now to address your concerns. Regarding the heating, there are thermostats in all of the rooms and additional heating is available in each room, for those who wish extra warmth. All of the windows open and have security locks should guests quickly wish to cool their room. The bath mats are all non slip and are checked regularly to ensure that they are safe , I would have been more than happy to have provided you with an additional mat had I been aware of the difficulty you experienced. You mentioned dog noise, I do recall that and there were shooters in the farm land surrounding the house with dogs, for a short period late morning which resulted in our dogs and the neighbouring dogs barking my apologies for any inconvenience caused. As a small 5 star B&B we do not offer a staffed reception area, however there is a call bell in the hall which guests are advised to ring should they wish any assistance and this has worked well. It allows guests to come an go in privacy and to seek assistance as and when they wish. Regarding breakfast, you booked on a room only basis and did not select breakfast when reserving. The cost for breakfast is £14 per person . There are no telephones in the bedrooms and we have never listed telephones in the bedroom, I will check all advertising to ensure that none of the booking agents have added this by mistake. We have no plan to install phones as 99% of guests have mobile phones eliminating the need for room phones and the proximity of the bedrooms the reception call bell is less than 20 paces from every room. We strive to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay and regrettably on this occasion we did not meet your needs. You have kindly take the time to express your unhappiness in reviews but sadly you did not give any opportunity to address your needs during your stay or to respond to any emails since.
