A really nice hotel except they rent most of it out for weddings & then you are stuck listening to loud & annoying music until 2 a.m. in the morning. We didn’t sleep at all & for the cost this luxury hotel I didn’t expect this. If you are going to allow weddings then either rent the whole hotel to the wedding or warn other guests! I would not have stayed here had I known. Very little by way of breakfast or dinner (no vegan options).

Pros: Location and cosy feel. Good breakfast.
Cons: Cheaper evening meal menu
Location: Lots of wild nature
quiet hotel in beautiful location. we had bikes so were able to cycle around the island.

Great place if you seek peace and pretty nature.
Rooms very small. Rooms felt like a Japanese business hotel.

Country side hotel with focus on groups
Posted 16 Jun 2017 on HotelsBig room had very thin curtains without sun blind, waking me up at 04.00h, next night changed to much smaller room with blinds which was better.
Hotel is used for conferences.
Not a lot of soul in the dining room.

Mere kursuscenter end hotel.
Posted 16 Aug 2024 on HotelsFremragende beliggenhed, men Gl. Avernæs er mere et kursuscenter end et hotel. Værelserne og sengene er små og savner de faciliteter man normalt får i den prisklasse. Værelset blev meget varmt og der var ikke mulighed for at åbne et vindue. En havedør kunne åbnes men ikke fastholdes på klem. Udsugningen i badeværelset virkede ikke og blev trods daglige løfter ikke udbedret i de 3 dage opholdet varede. Det er for ringe at man kun kan spise på "hotellet" hvis man har forudbestilt det.
Billedmaterialet af Gl. Avernæs er misvisende når man bliver indlogeret i en moderne uromantisk tilbygning.
Hotellet levede ikke op til vores forventninger.
