Perfect for outback
Posted 3 Feb 2018 on HotelsThis hostel is perfect for travellers doing a guided outback tour. You can leave your big luggage there for free and they offer super early breakfast, because the tour operators pick you up early morning usually.

One more step to perfection

Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Follow thru services
Location: There isn't any public transport circulating the area. Is a residential area.
All will be perfect only if the receptionist make my airport shuttle booking right. I was forced to call a cab, (thankful I found a neighbor that helped me for one) as the receptionist didn't follow thru my booking even I double confirm my pick up date & time during check in. I forced to pay AUD44 instead of AUD14.50 to get myself on time for my flights.

Thanks for taking the time to give us the positive review.
There is a public bus system which reception would of been happy to give you details if asked. We have a bus stop about a 3 minute walk from the hostel. As Alice isn't very big the buses aren't super frequent but there is that option. The only other transport is a taxi.
I really do apologise about the shuttle bus. I'm not sure if it was myself or my colleague who booked your shuttle for you but I know I would usually make the booking in front of you so it's possible the shuttle company had made the mistake and not us especially if you confirmed the pick up time with us twice I find it hard to believe that we would of just forgotten to book your shuttle. As I don't have you full name I can't look into it further but if you would like me to please email us with the details. if not then all I can do is apologise.

Perfect Backpackers Hostel

Pros: Friendly and helpful
I’ve graded this hostel as a hostel, not a hotel. MIT had everything required for Backpackers plus a lovely atmosphere...if I was back in Alice Springs, I would definitively tell stay there again.

Close to the airport and the center of the town

Pros: Location Security Fee
Cons: The kitchen sholud be clean. The kitchen towers should be changed every day.
Location: You can walk to the supermarket and Indian or Thai restaurants easily.
The location and security are OK. The room is clean and the bed is confortable. The kitchen is a kind of messy. The T towels are terrible. The shower rooms are not so confortable. Check in time is limited and inconvenient.

The kitchen is cleaned around lunch time every day and t towels are changed every day also. As it is a self service kitchen it can get quite messy quickly when fellow travellers don't clean up after themselves which can happen from time to time. Staff do try to keep it as clean as possible but are not here to clean up after people.
I wouldn't go as far as saying check in times are limited. There is only 2.5 hours from 2-4:30pm that reception is closed. This gives staff a lunch break and as there is a gap in flights coming into Alice Springs at this time it's not affordable to be paying staff during this period. Sometimes shuttle buses arrive late from the airport or if you come back from your tour early you might have to wait during this time but we have signs at reception that let oyu know that we offer luggage storage if you want to head into town, free tea coffee and water in the kitchen as well as the option to have a swim in the pool to make this short wait as painless as possible.

Hostel close to downtown Alice Springs
Posted 8 Nov 2017 on OrbitzI stayed in a six room mixed dorm before and after a two night trip to Uluru. The hostel has a great outdoor sitting area with a clean pool. The kitchen is a little small, but it works. Nice touches include milk/cereal (and toast? They had run out by the time I ate) for breakfast and complimentary storage for luggage when going on a tour). Lockers are provided in the rooms. If you do not have your own towel, you can rent one for Aus $1. This is an easy walk to downtown, but locals told me not to walk back at night.

Happy to hear we were able to meet your expectations. In regards to the bread sometimes it does run out if the people who are up early on tour eat it all. We do ask that people only take 2 pieces each. This doesn't always happen but reception re opens at 8:30am so if it has run out please let staff know and they will be more then happy to get another loaf for you.
Yes it is advised if you are coming back to the hostel in the late evening (11pm-12am or later) that you get a taxi but early evening is fine.
