It is spacious and clean, but the combination of load shedding ( not the owner’s fault) and a lack of hot water for two whole days and no water at all for our first night, made for a less than satisfactory experience, The furniture is old and in need of refurbishing, there are no window screens, so the choice was to close everything up to keep the insects out and use the ceiling fans, or to open the windows for air and...

"What a hidden gem!!! Tucked away behind the orchards, you will find the most delightful family greeting you to go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. What a beautiful setting! Kruger Shalati - Train on the Bridge and Garden Suites

"Fantastic and completely unique hotel on a train. We stayed in a garden suite which was lovely. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the food was fabulous. We had Nelly as our tour guide on the game drives and saw the big five. We will definitely be back"

Incredible first safari

"Generally incredible stay. Staff were very attentive. Not as luxury as hotels such as say lion sands which is twice the price though you get all the comfort you need given how busy the days are. If you plan on spending more time in the hotel / room maybe look for more luxury but the balance of comfort and access to the park was perfect for us as first time safari travelers Perfect mix of hotel comfort and access to safari with two daily drives with very knowledgable guides. Small negative was the food was only ok but the quality of the surrounding and access to Kruger more than compensated. We had a family of elephants welcome us on our first day with regular hippo and bird sightings from the terrace during out four nights. We also got engaged in the park. The staff and Elof the guide coordinated an unforgettable experience for my partner and I. Truly made the experience special. "

"If you want to go on safari in Kruger National Park, this is the place to stay! Two game drives per day (morning and afternoon/evening) with excellent guides. Because you are staying inside the park, you don’t have to worry about getting in and out of Kruger National Park before the gates close. Also, your guide can explore off-road places as well, getting you to where the animals are! Excellent food and service (all inclusive), spa treatments available on site, and an amazing rooms and facilities that overlook a river bed- you can relax and watch a herd if elephants walk by as you eat your lunch! Highly recommend!"

"Our stay at Summerfields was so special and unique. The property is small with few guests and a beautiful environment to unwind. The staff is helpful, available but not in the way. The food was fantastic at the restaurant and able to accommodate our gluten free and vegan requests. "
