Owner was super friendly and helpful, room smelt and looked clean and tidy and the location was perfect walking distance to city centre

Staff were excellent when we stayed in November 2024, but new owners taking over from December 2024 so can't comment on the future.
Rooms not sound proofed at all, so can hear people talking loudly on the street and other guests going up/down stairs, etc. Luckily Dunedin closes early so no noise late at night.
Bathrooms very dated and while clean need new taps, showers, etc.

Enjoyed the quietness and the helpfulness of the staff, facilities were pretty good too. Did not enjoy the parking but that was maybe an age thing!!

I picked this hotel as it was listed as a 4 star. When I compare it to other 4 star hotels, Alexis doesn't in my opinion rate as 4 star, it would rate as a 3 star. The walls are so thin I could hear my neighbours conversation. There are complimentary ear plugs for guests to use, so that says it all.The car parking is terrible. Tiny spaces and trying to get your luggage between cars was a challenge as there are no walkways. Staff were friendly, but I wouldn't stop here again

Apologies that we didn't meet your expectations. Disappointig for you having to continue your holiday alone, without the support of your friend! - not easy, I'm sure?Re "thin walls"- I'm not sure what you are eluding to. this has never been mentioned before- and we are a solid brick building with reinforced concrete. Re ear plugs are a little complimentary touch- because we are located in the inner city, and on occasion there can be disturbance from passers by. Apologies for the inconvenience of moving your large luggage to your studio unit- the location of your particular room was not ideal for your situation. If we are warned in advance- we do try to accommodate special individual needs on the ground floor units. Safe travel! Hope to see you another time :-)
