Explore the keep within the steadfast ramparts of Duart Castle and reveal the history of the fortress that has overlooked Mull’s eastern coastline since the 13th century. The traditional seat of the MacLean clan, Duart Castle was brought back from the brink of ruin in 1911 and beautifully restored after 160 years of abandonment. Visit this stunning medieval castle to discover the fascinating heritage of one of Scotland’s oldest clans and check out the magnificent interiors.
Walk in the castle’s imposing entry and check out the courtyard. An old rowan tree flourishes amid the ancient stonework. See the clan crest and explore the castle’s keep. You’ll find the restored banqueting hall and a collection of Edwardian staterooms. Delve into the eerie dungeons and imagine yourself as a prisoner of the MacLean clan.
