The pool was dirty, the beach was covered in garbage. The room smelled bad and there were ants on the bed. We booked the room then decided to leave. Lost the cost of the room but didnt sleep with the ants. Went to the resort next door instead

The Southwest monsoon winds and surf triggered by Super Typhoon Wamar left a huge amount of debris from the nearby Donsol River dumped to the shores. We are just starting the beach clean-up. Our workers are also pruning the branches of the tree near the Pool that dumped leaves into the Pool. The leaves that fall on the ground have Ants but it never went as far as the Beds inside the Guest rooms. We have other Guests and nobody complains about the smell of the rooms. The concerns of the Guest could have been addressed if he just talks to the Manager or staff in real-time. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you.

This hotel may have been fine before the pandemic but now it is rundown, understaffed, with no services for the guests

Place is not well built and run down like most places in the Philippines. Not really a place you would like to hang out during the day. There are much nicer resorts in Donsol. Don’t waste your time at the restaurant. It’s not very good but fortunately the other resorts have much nicer places to eat.

You are entitled to your own opinion and we respect that. Our other Guests before saw things differently though. The nicer resorts that you claim in Donsol charges a higher rate than we do. We will use your comments to improve our facilities and food in the restaurant.

Nice place apart from beach.

The place itself was very clean. The staff very helpful and friendly. The food that was available was nice and reasonably priced. Shame there was no SML hahaha. Nicely situated for the whale shark trip. The only downside in our opinion was the state of the beach (do not expect beaches like Boracay) littered with rubbish, but the worst thing was the amount of broken glass everywhere. Extremely dangerous if you do not watch every step. Considering the number of local kids playing there it is a miracle that nobody has had a very bad accident from all the glass. Whilst we appreciate this is not the fault of AGM. You would probably expect them to keep the place clean and free from litter and broken glass in front of their own fence. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend and stay there again.

Your review of our property is very well appreciated. As you correctly pointed out, it is our responsibility to keep the beach in front of our fence clean and free from debris and broken glass. We do it regularly but needs to double our efforts and closely coordinate with the neighbors to do their share of keeping the beach in front of their houses free from rubbish and foreign objects. The local government unit and all stakeholders are doing coastal clean-up twice a month but, obviously, more work has to be done especially after every tropical cyclone when solid debris and plastic from the Donsol river are dumped to the surrounding beaches by flood waters. A big thank you for your positive comments about AGM and our good customer service. We hope to see you again on your future trip to the Bicol region of the Philippines.

Sad Day at the Beach

Posted 18 Jan 2019 on Hotels
The entire beach was littered with municipal waste trash like baby diapers, plastic bags, cups, cigarette boxes, dog poop, etc. The water had so many garbage bags floating in it that it was sickening. The whale sharks will die soon if the local government does not do something drastic about the water pollution immediately. The problem is all along the beach in Donsol, so it doesn’t matter which beach resort you stay at, the beach is unsanitary and filthy everywhere in Donsol. So better stay in the city and just take a boat out to the deeper ocean to see the whale sharks and avoid this horrible experience with the beach. However, even out there, surely the water is still contaminated with all the municipal waste they are dumping into the water. I did not try to post any pictures because I did not want my review getting blocked like before at a different super nasty hotel I stayed at. Hopefully you read for yourself and make up your own mind.

Thank you very much for this objective review, it is well appreciated. The beaches of Donsol town, in the immediate vicinity of the huge Donsol river, is inundated with all conceivable solid wastes after the occurrence of each tropical cyclone; the last of which was during the last week of December 2018. The possible sources of wastes are the garbage generated by private houses and shanties along the river which are carried by flood waters and get dumped on the beach and in the sea in the vicinity of the mouth of the river. Another source is household wastes from villages along the shore. The houses, resorts, and hotels collect, segregate, and place the recyclable and organic wastes in separate bins placed strategically along the road and picked up by the garbage truck of the local government unit of Donsol. The solid wastes are brought to the municipal dump site or Material Recovery Facility. Each resort and hotel is cleaning its own beachfront. In connection with your concern, AGM Beachfront Resort had a meeting with the President of Donsol Hotel, Resorts, and Restaurant association requesting her to discuss this matter with the Village Chairman of Dancalan (the village where most of the sorts and hotels is located), Donsol Tourism Supervisor, Municipal Mayor, and Pollution Control Officer of Donsol for their immediate and appropriate action. The management of AGM Beachfront Resort sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this horrible sight which is beyond our control. Rest assured that we will do our best to rally all stakeholders to conduct regular coastal clean-up, especially after every typhoon and flood. Thank you for staying and bearing with us.
