OK as a wedding venue, but not as a stop over

Posted 6 Sep 2016
Pros: Garden (but we couldn't really use it)
Cons: Breakfast was very basic and expensive (20 Euro each). The worst value of any of 7 hotels we had used that week
Location: Rural location with very limited facilities locally
Firstly we were asked to pay on arrival, and for 10 Euro extra because our son was older than they expected even though his age was on the booking form; then the free wifi didn't work and the breakfast was very basic and disappointing. However, the biggest problem was that we were the only family in the hotel apart from a big wedding group which occupied all the facilities (including the patio which had been our reason for choosing the hotel). There was limited choice in the restaurant, which was full of wedding guests, and almost no local alternatives. We had to drive out to a roadside burger place. The hotel building was very grand and impressive, and the gardens very well kept. The room was large, though a bit dated, and the bed cover looked very old. OK for a wedding or conference, but all that glistens is not gold!

Nice hotel in very rural location

Posted 30 Aug 2016 on Hotels
The room we were offered was nice, overlooking the large rear gardens of the hotel. The only downside was that it was unseasonably very hot in the day (35 degrees!) and the hotel did not have air conditioning nor did they have any fans available. This meant we didn't get a very good nights sleep as a result. The breakfast was lovely and we were able to check out very quickly which was good too. There is no town to speak of and there are very limited places to eat or drink, a cafe/bar by the road, a takeaway pizzeria or a traditional fairly expensive restaurant. A car is a must and I wouldn't recommend the 25 minute drive to Liege as there isn't a great deal there either. We knew this before we booked but beware if you want a town or lots of choices of where to eat/drink.

Good value for money

Nice setting. Exceptionally quiet surroundings. Decent food. No WiFi in the rooms. Very clean. Pity we didn't have one of the castle-style rooms though.

Beste, dank voor uw revieuw. Inderdaad wij doen geen a la carte. We hebben U wel andere mogelijkheden van restaurants a la carte in de buurt voorgesteld maar deze hebt U geweigerd.
