Super relaxing stay in lush green resort

Posted 1 May 2017 on Hotels
The resort is the labor of love of Chamal the owner. 9 private and beautifully done villas set in the middle of nature. We had lunch and dinner everyday in the restaurant by the river. Loved the property, service was warm and friendly and seafood was superb. Great find!

Paridise lost

Posted 17 Apr 2017
Pros: See above.
Cons: See above. I understand that tourists get taken advantage of but the extent that the manager ripped us off really left a bad feeling.
Location: Why would you leave?
Our 3-day stay here was an incredible experience. Beautifully constructed bungalows giving peace and serenity. We would wake at 7 and take advantage of the 1hr free yoga (neither of us had much prior experience but the sessions were easy to follow and have enabled us to continue ourselves since we left). We would then have the wonderful breakfast followed by a couple of hours of massage before lounging by the pool. The food (and in particular the seafood) was the best we ate in Sri Lanka (and we stayed in 6 different hotels and tried numerous restaurants). So why not 5 stars? The reason is that the manager ripped us off with our transfer taxi, it was our first hotel so we did not know the correct rates and ended up paying £12 for a 10 minute journey. From our extensive travel after our stay it's clear that it should have been £2 at most. It's worrying especially as we left the manager a large tip for all the staff (£30) and I doubt that he bothered to share it around.

beautifull place

It was a beautifull stay, relaxing, beautifull surrounding, with competent ayurvedic treathment. The best was the cooking from Athula, really an experience, We didn't go else after our first meal cooked by him.

Relaxing retreat with a great chef

Posted 18 Feb 2015
We had a relaxing stay here and although didn't take part in Ayurveda were very impressed with the facilities. The hotel chef was great and offered delicious seafood fresh from the market that day. Bentota beach was a short boat ride away. The bungalows are lovely, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us

Perfect if you are looking for a peaceful few days or an ayurvedic retreat with a gentle touch, excellent food, beautiful and well-cared for surroundings and staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.

What a find!

Pros: Everything, especially that it is so relaxing there.
Cons: It is great the way it is.
Location: They have a free boat that takes you to Bentota beach daily, the Brief garden is well worth a visit and the hotel arranges great day trips.
What a lovely place Dalmanuta Gardens turned out to be. Set in beautiful gardens with only 9 bungalows, a relaxing pool and jacuzzi, wonderful Ayuverdic spa and a beautiful restaurant by the river with fantastic healthy and delicious food. The staff were lovely and very accommodating.

Once again, brilliant stay, staff and welcome excellent. Real luxury! Missed the regular chef however as he is recuperating an injury, which was a shame.

Oasis of serenity at Sri Lanka beach communitiy

Posted 3 Jun 2012 on Hotels
Located in a typical Sri Lankan beach community, the visitor finds tranquility as soon as he/she passes through the gates. Accommodations are in spacious bungalows with front porches and private front yards. You are greeted with a large, at least queen-size, bed covered with big tropical blossoms and partially draped with mosquito netting, which isn't necessary (in terms of mosquitos), but looks lovely. Restaurant is excellent, featuring locally-caught fresh fish, and is led by an accomplished and friendly chef - he invited me to witness his preparation of some vegetable curries using local ingredients. It was wonderful and educational. The property is located on the Bentota River, which empties into the sea downstream. The restaurant is riverside, so the ambience is awesome. The staff is welcoming and professional. I will return if ever in the area again!
