"The only negative was that other guest’s dog lefy 2 piles of geces in the corridet. Someone tried to remove it but left 2 significant feces smears on the carpet. We immediately notified front desk receptionist. Then next morning we told the housekeeper who was aware. The smears remained for our entire visit until our last morning when we submitted complaints to reception director again, it was finally cleaned at the time of our departure. "Basel is a quaint city. Rooms were clean. Easy public transportation to downtown and zoo. The hotel bar had a great attentive bartender and breakfast was a good spread every day."

"Good location near the train station and with three different tram lines easily accessible. The room was clean and modern, nice shower, toilet in the “cupboard” a bit claustrophobic. Room is quite small, not made for a lot of luggage. The hotel is perfect for a short stay for a night before heading to the train station or the airport (airport bus leaves from just outside the train station)."

"Staff was uniformly wonderful. Great family-owned hotel that has retained its old-world ambiance. Amenities included some free wine, beer, juice into the room refrigerator, great breakfast buffet and the special Basel card. That allowed us to ride the trams for free. "
