We loved our latest stay at the Surety which happened to be Christmas Eve. The restaurant and bar was at full capacity with diners. A definite Christmas oasis as most of the rest of downtown Des Moines was quiet. A testament to food and restaurant that so many would seek it out on Christmas eve. Staff as always were welcoming and friendly.

Old bank building retains its original charm in sleek updated rooms. We stayed on 11th floor and had a killer view. Restaurant was overpriced and food was not good. Both meals were a bust or we’d give this 5 stars
