Have a picnic under the shade of a thatched-roof cabana, snorkel with tropical fish or explore crystalline rock formations in hollowed coves on this island paradise.

Crystal Cove Island is a peaceful retreat sheltered between the larger islands of Boracay and Panay. Formerly a fishing outpost known as Tiguatian Island, today Crystal Cove Island is a must-see destination when island-hopping around the aquamarine waters of the Western Visayas. Explore the island’s white-sand beaches and relax at the luxurious resort. Delve into the island’s enchanting coves, find beautiful coral gardens or check out the aviary and museum. Despite covering just 5 acres (2 hectares), Crystal Cove Island has a fantastic range of activities and a stunningly varied coastline.

Stroll along the island’s well-marked paths to enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding islands. Visit the island’s namesake coves, which you’ll find on either side of the small island. Descend a narrow staircase to reach the first cove and see intriguing crystal-like formations in the rocks, as well as stalagmites and stalactites. Peer through the hollowed rock to see the Sibuyan Sea beyond the cave walls. A bamboo-lined path shows the way to the second cove. Crouch to walk through a tunnel to reach a rocky outcrop, which is a great spot to snap photographs of waves crashing against the rocks.

Grab your snorkel, mask and fins to explore the clear waters of the coral reef and see brightly colored fish. Check out the island’s museum which features a charming display of local seashells and make your way to the aviary to see a collection of local birds. The island’s thatched-roof shelters and waterfront cabanas are perfect for having a picnic and enjoying the view.

Crystal Cove Island is easy to access via bangka boat or charter tour from Boracay Island or Caticlan Port on the northern coast of Panay. It is a popular stopover on several island-hopping tours departing from Boracay, which is 10 to 20 minutes away by boat. Pay a small entrance fee for access to the entire island and its facilities for the day. Alternatively, stay overnight at Crystal Cove Island’s resort and fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping at the shore.
