See some of the largest reptiles on the planet and visit a museum documenting 30 years of crocodile research.

Crocodylus Park is the place to come face-to-face with a huge range of animals from all over the world. As the name suggests, the park’s main focus is Australia’s famous crocodile, and you can see many of these enormous reptiles on a tour of the small zoo.

Crocodylus is home to Australian saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, as well as the New Guinea freshwater crocodile, the Philippine crocodile and their American relative, the alligator.

The park was opened by a crocodile biologist, Professor Graham Webb, and his research into these prehistoric creatures is on show in the park’s museum. Learn all about the crocs from their early history through to the differences between the species kept at the park.

Other reptiles are on show too, including the emerald-green Fijian iguana and the Philippine sail-fin dragon. You can also see a variety of tortoises, turtles, snakes and more.

Crocodylus Park is also home to a lion, a tiger and an ocelot. The zoo also has six primate species, including a capuchin monkey, a marmoset and a hamadrayas baboon. The largest mammals in the park are the bantengs and the water buffalos.

You can also expect some close encounters with unique Australian wildlife, including the red kangaroo, smaller wallabies and wallaroos, the dingo and the flightless birds cassowaries and emus.

Crocodylus Park is located just 15 minutes’ drive from Darwin city. The park is open daily, except on Christmas Day. It’s a good idea to plan ahead in order to make the most of your time in the park. With the right timing, you can join one of the guided tours and witness the feedings of the crocs that throughout the day. The museum is air-conditioned, making it a good place to spend the hottest part of the day.
