Last resort hotel..
Posted 4 Aug 2024 on HotelsThe staff were quite friendly and helpful. Location was close enough to everything but you definitely need a vehicle of your own.
Didn't confirm the airport transfer then sent a message after I checked in complaining there taxi was waiting for me.
Next to a main road so quite noisey. No fixture for the shower head so constantly juggling it or spraying everywhere.
Wasps around pool.
Dirty towels left from previous guests in room.
Bed has 2 twins with a wooden frame that separates them by 15cm.

Me and my partner had booked a 6 night stay, but could only stay 2 nights. We had family in the area the first day so we were okay then. The room was okay, there was no shower head-holder, so we had to hold the shower head at all times, additionally to this, the shower had leaked into the wet-room, but the drain was blocked so we had to use the towels anyway. The freezer part of the fridge had a broken handle, meaning we couldn’t use this. The toilet was dirty and the flush was constant pretty much. The pool was lovely, however we think there was a wasps nest somewhere around the area, and the pool was surrounded by wasps constantly. There is only one staff member each day manning the bar and reception, and they were extremely hard to locate. We didn’t necessarily feel comfortable hiring a scooter, and we couldn’t rent a quad bike due to age restrictions which was understandable, but the hotel is in an extremely remote area, and getting around was extremely difficult, which is one of the many reasons we booked a new hotel for the rest of our holiday. We had asked the receptionist to order a taxi and they had said it would be 20 minutes, around 40 minutes later we asked where the taxi was in which they replied saying there was no taxis available and we would have to wait around 2-3 hours for one, which we couldn’t afford to do. The sun beds by the pool were mucky, and the grass was pretty much mud, which is definitely worse than sand. If we stayed, our holiday would be ruined.

This property was in a short way from the beach so is better for people with transportation however we hired a scooter for a few days which was good enough for us. Staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough it’s not a top of the range hotel but they more than make up for this in service. The large pool was amazing

Paradise Inn
Posted 20 May 2018 on HotelsThe hotel was still closed from the winter season when I arrived. The hotel had not, to my knowledge, attempted to contact me to tell me that I would not be able to stay there. I’d made the booking some time in advance of my planned stay. This was a problem for me as I’d selected the hotel as it was reasonably close to my route, as I was on a walking holiday. I eventually found a chamber maid, the only person there, but it was apparent that the hotel was some days off being ready to be occupied. The chamber maid was helpful and contacted someone who said I was to be driven, by her, to another hotel. This was approximately 10 miles away and way off my walking route. On arrival at the new hotel I negotiated that someone would take me, the following day, to a convenient place for me to resume my walking route. This was, I felt, reluctantly agreed by the hotel.
I was looking forward to using the swimming pool at (both) the hotel, but the new hotel’s had no water in it when I arrived. They started to fill it soon after my arrival - clearly it would not be ready for my use.
The new hotel was pleasant, a little out of the way for local facilities, and the reception staff were helpful.

High expectations, but disappointing

Pros: The setting is nice at Gardeles, but a car is essential.
Cons: There needs to be a curfew at night for the bar as the noise echoes through the hotel.
The bees/wasps nests to be removed from around the pool.
Location: The hotel is situated at Gardeles and not Paleokastritsa, which is about 4 miles away. The nearest beach is at Liapardes which is 2 miles away.
I was expecting a 3rd bed in the room and not a camp bed, which was only suitable for a child under the age of 14. When I booked the room through Expedia it was made clear that we were a family of 2 adults and a 16 year old.
The hotel staff did offer to change rooms at an additional cost per night, but I was not prepared to pay more.
We stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and the family who ran it, were very friendly and helpful, so we were expecting the same experience. When we arrived the staff were too busy talking to each other to acknowledge that we were waiting to check in.
There was no information on whether or not evening meals were available, whereas last time there themed nights for meals.
The hotel catered more for running a bar, rather than being family orientated and so was noisy all night and every night. We therefore did not spend any extra money at the hotel.
The pool was surrounded by bees/wasps, which ruined the enjoyment of the pool.

My initial reaction was that it is somewhat remote, but this came to be a bonus as I was walking to various locations, the positive meant my fitness improved. I also had the opportunity to speak with local people to get to learn their point of view for the area.
Unfortunately as it is coming to the end of the Holiday season, I was transferred to a sister Hotel, in the Across Hotels Group as Maintenance work was to start a week early than planned. The Silver Bay Hotel in Kontakali, I was told this was a better quality Hotel, I am afraid to say my opinion differs. The initial reaction was positive but once you get to the rooms I am afraid the standard of quality nosedives. A distinct lack of investment in general maintenance comes to light. The cleaning staff are OK but it is the lack of maintenance that lets the Hotel down.
