Appreciate the colorful buds and petals of the floral displays and vegetation that flank the paths of this idyllic garden hub.

The Connie Hansen Garden is a vast outdoor complex that shines with the colors of hundreds of flowers. Rhododendrons show their glorious colors among the azaleas and trees that thrive in Lincoln’s cool, damp climate. Wander along the wooden bridges and pathways to reach a serene area that takes you away from the buzz of city life.

Capture photos of your favorite plants and flowers. Gaze up at the array of trees that generate an immersive, rural quality around the paths. The garden covers an area of more than 1 acre (0.4 hectares). See how collector Connie Hansen clearly favored her rhododendrons, putting them in prime position in front of the perennials and bulbs. Examine the primula and iris species that complement the display.

Note that the garden is in full bloom in spring. For a comprehensive understanding of the plants displayed, take a guided tour. This incurs a small fee and must be arranged at least 2 weeks in advance. Allow the range of color and pleasant smells to intoxicate you as you meditate in this tranquil zone. Garden organizers encourage you to bring a picnic to enjoy against such a scenic backdrop.

Attend one of the events and activities that take place in the garden, such as plant sales, craft fairs and talks on flower arranging. Purchase your own plant to take home and cultivate. Browse the range of options for sale in the site’s gift shop.

Visit the garden, which is free to enter, between dawn and dusk on any day. The gift shop opens from morning until afternoon on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in summer. Consider leaving a donation to help with the administrative costs of the garden.

The Connie Hansen Garden is about 2 miles (3 kilometers) north of the central part of Lincoln City. It stands between Devils Lake and the Pacific Ocean. Visit nearby landmarks, such as the Chinook Winds Casino Resort and Kirtsis Park.
