A huge disappointment.

The automated check-in is bizarre. No one to greet us and because of the apostrophe in my surname the automated check-in wouldn’t work. Had to wait 15mins for someone to come and let us into the building. We had no toilet paper or towels in our room; by the time we noticed this, the man had already left and we had to call him back. The restaurant was closed so we had to get dinner in town, which is a 15min walk away. The hotel is on an industrial estate, and the town itself didn’t exactly have much character. There were spiderwebs in every corner of the room which hadn’t been cleaned well. Breakfast was the hotel’s only redeeming feature!!!!

Clean hotel. Staff was friendly. Enjoyed meals in the restaurant. Not much within walking but really was a nice area.

Small bedrooms, about the same size as a B&B hotel but almost twice the price. Bathroom had no toilet paper holder, broken waste bin. Only two small towels in the bathroom. Restaurant was closed.

Confusing outdoor, automated check-in

Posted 7 Nov 2017
Pros: The helpful staff person who gave us directions in the morning.
Cons: THE CHECK-IN PROCEDURE!!
Location: Don' know. Only stayed overnight.
The good: very helpful staff person at breakfast, and the breakfast was generous and tasty. The bad: When we arrived at 7:30 p.m. and it was cold, rainy, and dark (late October), the hotel and reception desk were closed, locked, and dark, and there wasn't even a light at the front door. The only way to get in was through an automated screen. We had a reservation, but when I entered my last name, I got "No reservation exists in this name." It turns out that Expedia had transmitted to them my entire name as just my last name. I had to start the process all over again. It was very cold, dark, and raining. Remember, no porch light. Luckily I had a flashlight. We had to pay by credit card on the possibly unsecured system in order to be issued a card that would let us into the building and into our room. The room was quite small. It is an older building. It wasn't dirty, but it looked worn and tired. It was a very frustrating process. For awhile I thought we would have to sleep in the car or drive another 50 miles to find a hotel.

Disappointed with the bathroom

Posted 17 May 2017
Pros: Welcome, staff, bed linen
Cons: Bathroom Choice of channels on TV
Location: A business park location, completely uninspiring. We walked into town (a good 15 minutes) and found nothing inspiring there either.
An overnight stay for us, driving between UK & Austria. We make this same journey every year, sometimes more than once, and have never managed to find the perfect stopover on the Reims - Metz motorway section. We were therefore willing to drive away from the motorway, and the drive was lovely - quiet, easy roads with gorgeous countryside. Unfortunately we were disappointed with Commercy, and the location of the hotel. All that stunning scenery and you may as well be in the middle of a city. The hotel is pleasant and the welcome (and staff) was great. The bedroom is very small (we were room 2 on the ground floor) but nice - clean and modern. Bed linen clean, crisp and white. Modern flat screen TV and free small bottle of water both nice touches. Unfortnately this room is let down by the bathroom - a disgrace in my opinion. Parts of it seemed to date back to the 70s. Maybe some could overlook the mould stains in the shower and the growth of dust on the ventilation fan, but I couldn't. No toilet roll holder - evidence that 2 had been mounted and not lasted. I'm sorry but if a hotel can't be bothered to maintain a toilet roll holder, makes me annoyed! No plug in the sink, so when you clean your teeth you are looking straight down the drain - ewww! (It was clean, mind you, but yuk anyway). Not to be impartial - there were clean towels, soap and shower gel provided and except for the shortcomings mentioned above, the rest of the bathroom was clean. The search, for us, continues!
