Lovely and steeped in history!
Posted 17 Oct 2024 on HotelsMy stay at Posada Plaza Mayor was absolutely lovely! It looked exactly as on their website and on Hotels.com, which is how I booked. I visited Colonia from Buenos Aires, where I’m staying for several weeks. I know that many people do Colonia as a daytrip from BA, but I’m so glad that I chose to spend the night. Posada Plaza Mayor takes you back in time to help you really feel the history of Colonia. They have done a wonderful job in updating the hotel to make it modern, while keeping many elements of the original building for its charm. The bathroom is totally modern. Great toiletries. The breakfast was upstairs with a view of the river.

The hotel is centrally located. Staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable. Totally recommend it!

Lovely room with fabulous character. Comfy king bed. New bathroom. Charming views and ancilliary rooms - breakfast room, lounge, courtyard. Picture perfect.

Great place - gorgeous , traditional yet modern , wonderful staff, location in a very picturesque central area yet on a quiet cobblestone street.
