Collingwood Beach sweeps northward from Vincentia in a sharply curving L-shape, lapped by the gentle waves that roll in from Jervis BayOpens in a new window. With 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) of broad, sandy beach, there’s plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the views of the broad bay enclosed by the Beecroft Peninsula. Go for a leisurely walk along the foreshore pathway, which is shaded by swaying she-oak trees. Make your way onto the white sands of Collingwood Beach to pick a spot to lay down your towel. Low dunes and a pretty strip of trees border the foreshore. Cool off with a swim in the clear waters or play in the warm shallows. To the south of the beach, you’ll find a grassy picnic area and a boat launch. Kids will enjoy hopping between the rock flats and searching for marine critters.
A wide sandbar and the rocky mouth of Moona Moona Creek enclose the beach’s northerly section. When larger swells roll into Jervis Bay, you can surf the right break that develops at Moona Moona Creek. Cross the bridge over the creek’s pretty estuary and find a spacious grassy park.
Grab your bicycle and enjoy the foreshore pathway that runs parallel to Collingwood Beach. You’ll have the brilliant blue of Jervis Bay and white sands of the beach on one side and the bushy coastal she-oaks on the other. Explore nearby beaches, such as Orion Beach or Tapalla Point, or discover the rugged beauty of nearby Booderee National Park.
Buy a snack or supplies for a foreshore picnic at the strip of shops nearby Collingwood Beach’s southern end. There are also bus stops here.
