The room was pretty spare and rustic. The bed was in poor shape and made a ton of noise when you got in/out of it. The location was both a plus (walkable to Christensted) and a minus (the neighborhood wasn't great). The 'breakfast' part of the B&B was limited in both what was offered (vegan only) and duration (8-9am). I respect the personal preference but not all (or many guests) appreciate the limitations. Add all that to a lack of housekeeping services and a housekeeper who was extraordinarily rude and obnoxious and you get a 2 star rating.

Beautiful rooms. Extremely nice staff. Close to boardwalk on the bay and Christiansted shops and restaurants. The outside could use some paint, but don’t be deceived. It’s s very nice place.

Great location, clean and overly accommodating

We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to stay near the downtown or ferry/seaplane port. Natalie was very welcome and accommodating. The rooms were clean, roomy with AC and a small kitchenette. It also included a light continental breakfast. Thank you for being such gracious hosts.

This was almost a last-minute reservation and I’m really glad that we made it. The property was beautiful and so is the room. It had everything we needed in it and was perfect for just staying in the Christiansted area. Natalie was amazing and making sure that we had a great breakfast every morning along with great conversation! I will definitely be working here again!

This was a lovey property. The rooms were well equipped and clean. Continental breakfast was great with fresh fruit and offerings of bread and cakes. Pool was refreshing. Several outside patios and gardens. Best was all the land turtles in the garden!!

I like how it was just walking distance to the boardwalk! Lots of shops, restaurants, ferry that can take you to the beach at hotel on the cay, can book a tour to Buck Island at the boardwalk with Big Beard Tours. Lots of water activities. Only issue was the tv's didnt work even though they are smart tv's. You will have to find a taxi for transportation services if you dont have a rented vehicle. Nice Light Breakfast in the morning with fresh local juice!

Pros: The property has a lot of potential and is located within walking distance to the Fort, boardwalk and several restaurants. There is a 5ft pool available. The room had a sink, a refrigerator, a couple of dishes and utensils and a kettle. Cons: The room I stayed in could use a deep cleaning. There was a build up of dust in many areas which triggered my allergies…particularly the fans and curtain area behind the beds. I also made a reservation for four people but the room had towels for two. Had to text on a couple occasions for more towels which caused a delay in my plans. I can’t speak on the breakfast as the one time I sought to partake, I was told since no one came the day prior, the decision was made not to provide breakfast that day. There aren’t any complimentary toiletries, coffee/tea or even a blow dryer. There was a shampoo and conditioner dispenser attached to the wall in the shower.

Cool Historic Property

The property is very cool (the manager told us it was built around 1780!), with an interesting layout, pretty outdoor areas, and a nice old-school vibe. Our room was comfortable and had all the standard amenities. The B&B has contactless check-in, where they just text you the day of your arrival with a code to access the main gate, a code to access your room, and other details like the Wi-Fi info. We found this very convenient, but we did have one confusing message under "Special instructions" in our confirmation email from Hotels.com that said, "To make arrangements for check-in please contact the property at least 24 hours before arrival using the information on the booking confirmation." This is not actually the case, and so it was a little confusing when we called ahead. One concern we had upon arrival was whether it was safe/recommended to drink the tap water. Upon asking the property manager (who is very easy to reach via text), she told us the locals don't drink the tap water, so being prepared to go buy some bottled water is something to keep in mind when staying here. The included breakfast is quite light and is all plant-based, so it may not be satisfying or substantial enough for some people. The main lack for me personally was dairy cream or milk as I don't care for plant milks in my coffee.

I booked a reservation at Sugar Apple B&B with the expectation that manager and staff would offer 'insider information' about St. Croix, as well as continental breakfast. However, communication was only by text and, because I was the only guest, no morning meal was available. [The manager did provide healthy packaged snacks in my room.] Also, housekeeping services were only provided upon request, with 24 hour notice. Had I known, I would have booked a room in a hotel with staffed reception and housekeeping services.
