Staff were so friendly and looked after us and dog well. Foul wet day all journey to Shoulder but warmth and attention made up for that...Many thanks

Liked: Staff & service
Lovely friendly staff and great service. Food excellent. Nice country pub. On the downside the bathroom was not very nice and not too clean. The towels had a very musty smell. Had to ask for tea bags for the room.
Good morning,
I was booked into this Hotel for two nights - 8/07 & 9/7.
I will not be staying tonight. When I left this morning at 06.45am, no staff in the hotel, so left the room keys on the bar counter.
Upon arrival last night I was greeted with the comment 'Nobody told me that you were staying'.
No food available / no chef booked, for evening meal or breakfast on Mondays or Tuesdays, the owner advised that he could send out for a takeaway!
Room musty with damp.
Bathroom - black mould on the ceiling.
Bed very uncomfortable.
This establishment is definitely being crossed off my company list.

Liked: Cleanliness
Nice room good welcome and good bar stay for a function so never got to try food
Fabulous pub with B&B. Couldn't fault the staff, service, food/drink. Rooms were lovely. If I had to pick anything that could be improved I would say the shower in the room as it was a case of scalding water or cold, but this certainly didn't spoil our stay. We will definitely stay many more times as it is around the corner to where we visit family.

The service a staff were wonderful, polite and made you feel very welcome. The food was fabulous, and good value for money. The only thing that let the stay down was that the room was freezing, even with the radiator on as high as it could go, both my Daughter and myself struggled to sleep, having to put our cardigans and coats over us, to get us warm.
Comfortable room, good food and great staff. What more do you need? We had a great evening with live music in the restaurant. We'll be back to visit the nearby Hardwick Hall.
