Great location, but rooms are outdated. I also booked a double but given a twin room

Great location and everything you need including gym and spa facilities. Good breakfast choice.

Really nice location. Not too busy. Rooms were nice and warm. Linen could be better as there were iron marks and other black marks present.
Staff was incredibly polite and nothing was too much.
Breakfast was really nice and fresh. Only dienside was that you had to wait a while for the hot food to be topped up.

Good things: very close to Chester Town Centre and if you are lucky and you arrive early there is parking at ground level. Rooms OK size with good sized TV and fridge. Free bottles of water and very quick replacement of any missing items like hot chocolate powder. Plenty of items like tea bags / coffee.
Very welcoming reception staff.
There is a pool and a gym.
Not so great: main entrance of the hotel is in a grim dark passage surrounded by car parks.
There is a large breakfast buffet but taste was a bit boring and the little baguette piece I had was dry and tasteless. Had better and fresher baguette just going to M&S.
Some items probably were simply to long under the heat lamp to keep warm as they were hard like the fried egg we had
Main problem are the pool rules. Children not allowed to use any gym equipment. Not allowed to use the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi.
We arrived Wednesday morning at 8:30 and were told Children are not allowed to swim before 9 am. Bizarre rule. My 10 year old daughter is in a swimming club doing competitions. Why is she not allowed to swim before 9 am ?
We returned 9 am and were then told by a pensioner what water gymnastics start at 9:15 and it would be impossible to swim at the same time.
So we had 15 minutes in the water and then left.
I had chosen the hotel in Chester on purpose so we can look at Chester zoo and go swimming.
Would not book this hotel again.

The best part of this property are the employees that make it run. I’d like to give a shout out to the kitchen staff. Especially Maria the cook, and William and Tayanne. They went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and they made us feel welcomed to the Chester community.

The cupboard door furniture was in poor repair - the handle just falls of as it is not securely fixed to the door.
Like all hotels there are not enough hangers in the closet. I know I could ask for more, but I should not have to do this.
Otherwise, I'm totally happy with the facilities and condition.
