Probably teh worst experience in 20 years of global travelling. I arrived at the hotel and waited for an hour, and they gave my room away to someone else and left me with no room. I eventually found a replacement at 12:30am, at a cost of £400.... Completely incompetent staff and service levels. Do not waste your time.

Rooms in need of investment. Upgraded on arrival from cosy to superior. Room was large, maybe too large, very high ceilings and air con on full on arrival meant it was very cold. Furniture was damaged (armchair looks like a dog has attacked it) and the units looked like they were from from an old office. Lighting was appalling, 3 tiny bedside spotlights and a large main light which couldn’t dim, meant we couldn’t make the room cosy at all. Was seriously missing proper free standing lamps. Nowhere for my wife to do her makeup other than a random pull up mirror without lighting in the side unit. Bathroom was adequate, but putting a shower against an uncovered window meant all the paint was coming off. Hotel was super quiet in bar and restaurant even on a Saturday , and to be honest the hotel looks like there’s been a spending cap, or may be on its last legs. Reception team were lovely though.

room and facilities ,staff were really helpful,location perfect,quiet. The lighting was poor both in breakfast room and my bedroom (function more important than mood!). Cooked breakfasts good but continental means cheese,cold meats and a variety of breads not packets of cereals and toasts. Will stay again though-thank you.

This was our second stay at the Malmaison Cheltenham. It is a great location as in close proximity to Cheltenham - shops, restaurants etc. However, we stayed in a bigger room last time (club?) but this wasn’t available this trip. We stayed in a standard double which was compact with the same colour scheme and furniture, bathroom fittings as the other. The only criticisms being how dark the room and bathroom were - dark tiles added to this and the temperature of the room. It was very hot!!! Too hot for comfort. The window only opened slightly and access to the veranda/ balcony closed off so this was the only window and it afforded no ventilation. The air conditioning was ineffective so it made for an uncomfortable stay. Breakfast was as good as we remembered and fantastic quality. The price this time was top rate - I used some Expedia credit towards it which saved over £100 on the night’s stay. It would have been closer to £400 full price so higher end and not worth that for the room we got. Would not opt for the standard room again at this particular Malmaison in the future!
