Great base for exploring the Cotswolds

Posted 3 Aug 2013
Pros: Restaurant meals were excellent.
Cons: My husband was not impressed by the choice of beers in the bar (one), and the standard of housekeeping/decoration in the Coach House needs improving.
Location: Perfect for exploring the Cotswolds.
The main building is in very good repair but we were given a room in the Coach House and upon entering the building we found the carpets to be very dirty, badly stained and the walls in need of painting. Our room was huge and the views of the fields at the back spectacular and the bed was enormous and very comfortable. We only had one hand towel and the bin in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous occupant which was rather unpleasant but this was rectified once reported. We ate our evening meals in the hotel restaurant and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. On the whole we enjoyed our stay but to be really picky had we paid full price for the Deluxe room would not have been impressed by the standard of housekeeping, i.e. lack of towels, bin not emptied, hospitality tray not replenished, but for what we paid through Expedia and as we only stayed 2 nights we could live with this.

An excellent hotel

Posted 9 Jul 2013
Pros: Comfortable and well appointed
Cons: Staff were a little too effusive - Waiter in restaurant when ordering meal "I think I will join you for this excellent choice"!
The fact that this is a privately owned and run hotel is obvious in the service given. I have been associated with catering for almost 60 years and rarely do I find an hotel which is difficult to fault but Fosse Manor is just such an hotel. Excellent value for money and highly recommended.

Beautiful position.

Posted 17 Mar 2012
Pros: The food and atmosphere
Cons: Kitchen noise in room
Location: Lovely location to visit Cotswolds. Broadway close and Cheltenham not far away.
Staff tried very hard if a little inexperienced. A few minor tatty paint areas in rooms and plug holes needed bleaching. Room was noisy whilst the kitchen was open. Avoid room 5 if this will bother you. Overall pleasant stay.

Nice English Hotel in the Countryside

Posted 13 Jun 2009 on Hotels
If you are in the Cotswolds and want to enjoy a nice old English hotel, this is the place. Lovely restaurant and pleasant garden and outdoor patio to enjoy the few days of nice weather. Our room was very clean and the bathroom modern. No air conditioning, so the large windows are a plus. You do have to carry your bags up stairs (no elevators), as is true for any hotel in this part of the Country. We ate dinner there as well as breakfast, and both meals were very good. They have a bar and pleasant lounge area. The hotel is a 1 mile drive from Stow-on-the-Wold.
