Small and remote yet alive with culture and activity, this coastal community has appeal that exceeds its modest size.

Enjoy a theater experience like no other and marvel at whales swimming and playing in Trinity. Discover a proud local heritage with an emphasis on skilled crafts and some delectable food.

Set in a geographically fascinating coastal region Trinity is an intriguing place to explore as it juts out into a tranquil bay of frigid water. Stroll along the High Street out to the pretty headland and then swing back past pontoons lined with dinghies and little fishing boats.

The Trinity Museum is a great place to get up to date on the region’s history, with themed exhibitions incorporating more than 2,000 artifacts. Find out what life was like here for the first settlers and view a collection of uniforms and photos from the two world wars.

The town’s most famous residents open their doors to visitors at the Green Family Forge nearby. Blacksmiths have been practicing here since the 18th century and the tradition still goes on. Watch the masters at work and purchase exquisite candle holders and coat hooks from the shop.

The surrounding ocean is blessed with a mesmerizing abundance of wildlife and the best way to witness it up close is on an organized whale-watching tour. Set off with your guide and you have every chance of seeing sperm, fin and humpback whales as well as puffins and gannets.

After testing your sea legs make your way to the Rising Tide Theater at the northern end of the village. The theater company started in 1978 and today stages various performances and concerts. Enjoy the superb dinner theater or head to one of the restaurants or inns for a warming seafood meal.

Trinity is on the southeast corner of the Bonavista Peninsula a 3-hour drive north of St John’sOpens in a new window, the provincial capital. There is accommodation in the form of several guesthouses and inns close to the heart of town.

Immerse yourself in one of the most majestic landscapes on Newfoundland both on and off the water at Trinity.
