"This place is fantastic! Self check in at a beautiful property. The property is gated with a 24 hour guard, they do lock it overnight but if you need in or out they are there. The staff were all very friendly and kept everything clean. There is a jug of filtered water in the kitchen that is safe to drink or cook with. "Casa de Don Moncho refused to allow us to check in because our bus from Managua arrived late. They left us stranded late at night without a room. I've lodged a complaint with INGUAT (the Guatemalan tourism department) and learned that this hotel IS NOT A LICENSED HOTEL and DOES NOT HAVE THE PERMITS TO OPERATE AS A HOTEL IN ANTIGUA. Now the hotel is keeping my money instead of reimbursing me for the 14 nights they denied me. Tip- there are LOTS of hotels in Antigua, find another one."
