One Night Family-Stay

The hotel is conveniently located near attractions in the Central Drakensberg. Check-in was easy and efficient. We had a problem with our air conditioner, which was swiftly resolved after reporting the issue. Parking is conveniently located close to the rooms. Breakfast was good with a good selection of food. Overall, a good experience and good value for money.

Unhappy stay

We booked through Hotel.com and requested a chalet 2 bedroom for 4 adults. When we arrived at 15h30 we were taken to a room with 2 double beds(No one queried this at the time) Not sure as my mom booked chalet for us. At 20h30 at night they came to tell us we in the wrong type of room and we have to pay more and change rooms. Firstly, why not say something at check in so we could have sorted it out than. Not at this time of night. We showed them the request of booking, the type of room and the amount we paid. They were not interested. They made us feel as if we were trying to sneak people in. Will never stay there again or recommend them. They need to understand customer service first.

Good Day,Whilst we thank you for the review and feedback, we would like to clarify a few of the issues mentioned above.1) As per the confirmation received, which was shown to you, you had booked a superior room. As this was not queried upon check in, confirms you had indeed booked the superior room and not the 2 Bedroom Chalet. This option was shown to us Via another OTA the next morning where you claimed you had booked through. This was in fact inaccurate. 2) Only 2 people came to check in, the receptionist was not aware there were 4 people. Had she been aware, she would have addressed it on check in.3) As soon as the restaurant manager became aware of the inconsistencies of how many people were meant to be in the room, she addressed it with you, this was around 19:004) When you showed us your booking page, we compared it to ours and showed you what we received from Expedia. We explained that we work on the confirmations received from our OTA's and what you had booked, had in fact been allocated to you.5) Through this whole situation, our staff remained calm and friendly, despite being sworn at and spoken down to. All of this was explained on check out, each time we presented our side, you refused to listen. Our staff tried as much as possible to accommodate you, with the restaurant manager even trying to organize a late breakfast due to the marathon you were running. This offer was not taken up. The chalets look a little unimaginative aesthetically. Needs a proper rethink. The pub/bar area is too sterile and would really need some decore investment. The wood and lighting should be old school dark to give it country atmosphere.

Reception staff were amazing - friendly and responsive. Nice kids facilities, but the food needs attention.
