The stay was okay
Posted 1 Aug 2020 on HotelsThe hotel has a great location, right in the town square, but with that comes a lot of noise, particularly when the windows must be open for a breeze and there is a band playing across the street until 11pm. At one point, the power went out, but they were quick to restore it. I felt that the room and bathroom were very clean, but the bathtub needed a shower curtain. When we took a shower, water got all over the bathroom floor.

This hotel is conveniently located on the square in Castellane with quick access to restaurants and shops in the small town. My room was clean, had an updated bathroom, but the bed was small. No air conditioning, but nothing in Castellane appears to have a/c. My only issue was that my room was right over the small hotel bar. I could easily hear the music being played and people talking until closing time at 0100 every single night. This really hampered my ability to get a full night’s sleep. Ask for a room not over the bar area for sure. Breakfast was ok, better than other hotels in the square. Staff was friendly but few spoke English which made communicating difficult, but it is France, so there you go. Just a note, there is no elevator so if you have heavy bags, be prepared to lug them up the stairs. Just FYI, Hotel du Commerce is the nicest hotel in Castellane if you want to compare, otherwise this one is fine. Just avoid a room over the bar area.
