Lit up in neon lights in the middle of the marina, Alicante’s premier gambling establishment offers games and slots as well as a fine restaurant and art exhibitions.

Gambling isn’t the only reason to visit the Casino Mediterráneo in Alicante, although certainly gaming will provide a fun evening. Known for its support of the region’s artists and authors as much as its games, the casino provides a glamorous night out on the town, no matter the activity. Small but mighty, the floor never feels particularly crowded. Enjoy the relaxed ambiance that is occasionally punctuated by the victorious cheers of people winning large amounts.

Feel the cool sea breeze that sweeps into Alicante after sunset while walking along the piers from the city center to the casino. The building glows under the shadow of Santa Bárbara Castle on the hillside above it.

Start on the main floor, with play on the electronic slot machines dominating the back of the room. Keep up with tradition with a game of punto banco, also known as baccarat, on the main tables. Enjoy an exciting and familiar game of blackjack.

Stroll through the cultural space of the casino, which features artwork by famous regional artists, from the Valencian painter Álex Alemany to the poet Luis Quesada, who hosted a reading of his newest book here. Savor the well-priced buffet or go a bit more high class in the fine-dining restaurant Azar, overlooking the Mediterranean and glittering in the night.

Located adjacent to Alicante’s port, the Casino Mediterráneo is an easy 10-minute walk from almost anywhere in downtown Alicante. Drive here in 5 minutes or take a bus in 20 minutes from the main train station. From the airport it is a 15-minute drive by car or 25-minute bus ride. Parking is available on site.

Visitors to Alicante do not pay an entrance fee and must be at least 18. Note that the dress code is smart casual.

The casino is open daily from mid-afternoon to early morning, with slightly different schedules depending on the season. The restaurant is open daily from late evening until late at night. The buffet is open only from Thursday to Sunday.
