"I honestly choose a resort, but I accidentally choose this area. However, I would recommend for those who are low budget travelers but who are willing to take a break and rest in their amazing hot springs. "We had a lovely stay at Casa de Vista Alta in Mindo. It's a gorgeous property in a stunning location, high up on a hill, surrounded by a bird-filled cloud forest. The views from the veranda (and balconies) are spectacular. The staff at the Casa were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed hanging out with the Casa's dog, Kyova. "Incredible. Such a wonderful place to stay in the Mindo area. Really tucked away in the forest but only a 20-25min walk or $3 cab to the town. We stayed in the upper level of the lodge which was wonderfully positioned to watch the birds. Excellent service really recommend. "

"Important: This hotel is now called the Tagara. It is tough to find things in Ecuador and having the wrong name on the signs does not help. This locale is beautiful, the pool gorgeous, and the staff, especially the general manager, Bernard, are wonderful. But this is more of a corporate retreat in style. However, a great escape from Quito or a great place to spend a night when making the drive from the coast to Quito. For Westerners I think the nightly stay with included meals is a fair price....

"This lodge is located off the beaten track. It takes about 20 min to get here from Mindo on a narrow dirt road. The accommodation is basic but nice. Staff is small but very attentive. My cabin was spacious with one queen sized bed and three single beds (two of them in a loft). Nature around the lodge is beautiful."
