Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse in the fascinating coastal town of Augusta. This towering structure is located at continental Australia’s most south-western point. The grand structure dates to the late 19th century. At approximately 39 meters (128 feet) tall it is one of Australia’s tallest mainland lighthouses. Its original light source was a kerosene wick lamp, considered one of the largest at the time. It was also operated manually until the late 20th century. You’ll find Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) from the centre of Augusta. The lighthouse is open daily, excluding Christmas Day.
