We arrived at Malpensa and drove to this hotel for two nights before travelling by car to Alto Adige. It was perfect to use the small heated pool (extra 20 euros but worth it) and relax before driving. Google maps brought me to 3 Laguna and I drove on for maybe half a mile and found the hotel to my left. Loved exploring the city of Varesa and also having an elegant dinner at Madonnina down the street. I liked that it was very a very traditional, comfortable, clean hotel is a place that was not too touristy - it had old world charm. Also, great local wines, good food and nice people.

Visiting the Italian Lakes
Posted 7 Jul 2018 on HotelsI liked everything about this hotel except there was no air conditioning. A fan was provided but the temperature was about 30 degrees and this wasn't enough. However another fan was offered.
The restaurant was really good. You could eat inside or outside and the food was very reasonably priced. The breakfast was also good.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and spoke English.
There is also a spa at the hotel. There is also a supermarket across the road from the hotel.
As we had a car the location was perfect for travelling to the Italian lakes - only 30 minutes away.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again but at a cooler time of the year than June/July. Can't fault the service and the food and the friendliness of all the staff.

Cheaper than Switzerland
Posted 10 Sep 2014 on HotelsI stayed with my husband & 2 children in a family room as an overnight stop. We chose this hotel for its position close to the Swiss border & the rates are a lot more reasonable than Swiss prices. We arrived late & left early so can't really comment on the surrounding area. The room was spacious & clean, the welcome warm and breakfast good. As corridors & stairs were tiled it was a little noisy but we still had a good nights sleep. On leaving we were presented with a complimentary bottle of wine...a nice touch.

Lake Varese - Rowing Event
Posted 30 Jul 2014 on HotelsBooked the Impero Hotel less than a week before travelling.
Arrived at 8pm, and in a poorly lit reception area, we were quickly welcomed and checked in, by a gentlemen we later discovered to be the owner. This is a family run hotel.
Our en-suite room was spacious, clean, and enjoyed a balcony looking out to the rear of the hotel. There's no air conditioning - so keep the shutters and curtains closed during the day.
The restaurant lighting was a little stark, and it lacked ambience, but the food was good, however we found better options nearby at similar prices. Breakfast was plentiful and inclusive. There's a Tigro's supermarket next door, a Samsonite outlet just a mile away, and if you're heading to or from Switzerland as we were, then the border is just a mile and a half away. There's a superb Gelateria in Cantello, and a number of alternative dining options.
The hotel is realistically 15-20 minutes drive from Varese, 30-35 minutes from Lake Varese. Hotel is on a bus route but you really need your own transport.
Would certainly consider this hotel if we were in the area again. The gift of a bottle of olive oil on departure a nice touch.
