Capture photos of the sparkling blue sea beyond the pretty red walkway and white-and-blue bobble-like markers that line the wall. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere in this spacious part of the city. Relax with a book on one of the many benches and watch people go by. As the sun goes down, the reddening hues of twilight reflect on the water, generating a romantic and scenic setting.
Traverse the entirety of the waterfront promenade on bicycles, which you can rent from nearby shops. Other locals and sightseers choose to rollerblade or jog along the three wide paths of the boulevard.
Dine at one of the restaurants along the route with a view of the water. Several intriguing monuments and sculptures adorn the coast here. Exercise at one of the fitness stations and bring your kids to frolic on the climbing frames and slides of the playground. Watch the fishermen bringing in the day’s catch.
One of the highlights at the northern end of the promenade is the large and modern Plaza Galerías Campeche shopping mall. The structure has a great range of stores and restaurants and lights up the walkway at night. Try your luck at the nearby casino.
Note that the Spanish name for the promenade is the Malecón. It remains open to the public at all times and is free to use.
