Calgary Tower

With an outstanding view over the city landscape, this iconic landmark is a great way to view all of the sites from the comfort of one observation point.

Standing a staggering 1,288 metres above sea level, Calgary Tower offers a full 360-degree panoramic view of the city below. To see downtown Calgary from a unique angle, stand on the glass floor and look down 180 metres. The tower is a perfect place to start your adventure, offering a great vantage point from which to get your bearings and orientate yourself in the city.

The complimentary guided tour will take you through the best attractions that the city has to offer and point out the most popular places to visit. On the observation deck and in the lobby, visitors can purchase some outstanding artwork from local artists. At the base of the tower, the Tourism Calgary Information Centre keeps visitors up to date with the latest news and events in and around the city.

Officially opened in 1968, Calgary Tower was one of the first members of the World Federation of Great Towers. The Olympic torch was placed as burning emblem on the top of the great tower during the 1988 Winter Olympics. The tower's iconic architectural structure is not only a treasured part of the city skyline but also allows it to endure strong winds.

At a height of 155 metres, visitors can enjoy a unique dining experience in the revolving Sky 360 restaurant, which completes one rotation every 45 minutes at lunch and every hour at dinner. For those who wish to dine closer to the ground, there is also a steakhouse located on the second level.

Centrally located in the downtown area of Calgary, Calgary Tower is easily accessible by public transport – numerous bus routes stop nearby – and it’s just a short walk from the downtown train stations. The tower can also be accessed from the +15 Skywalk, a public walkway 4.5 metres above street level that links many of the city’s buildings.

The tower is open every day with the exception of Christmas Day, and the Observation Deck is sometimes closed for public functions. The admission fee allows you to go up the tower again on the same day if you produce your stamp and receipt.
