Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and beautiful views offered by this lovely beach, just minutes on foot from the picturesque Roche Lighthouse.

Cala del Faro is smaller than some of the other beaches that fringe the Costa de la Luz. Come here and you can expect a quieter day than you might have at some of the area’s bigger and more bustling strands. The tranquil character of the beach is enhanced by the presence of the beautiful Faro de Cabo Roche, or Roche Lighthouse, located close by.

Descend the stairs that lead from the scenic clifftop down to the beach, which has smooth golden sands and clean blue waters. Set up a beach towel and enjoy feeling the sun on your skin, or head into the warm sea for a dip.

Make sure you take a walk to the Roche Lighthouse, which is located just 5 minutes away on foot. This is a scenic highlight of the area and a great place to take pictures, watch the sun go down or simply be alone with your thoughts for a while.

To the northeast of the lighthouse you will find the Sendero de Roche hiking area. This is a beautiful place to go for a walk. Bring sneakers or walking boots as well as sandals when you head to Cala del Faro, so you don’t miss out.

You may choose to bring a picnic with you when you come to the beach for the day, as there aren’t many facilities in the immediate vicinity – but that is all part of the fun. Note that there are some restaurants within a few minutes’ walk if you feel like dining out.

Stay in the pretty historic village of Conil de la Frontera and you will be around a 15-minute drive from Cala del Faro. Alternatively, if you don’t need too many comforts, you could choose to stay in the Camping Cala del Aceite campsite, which is just over 20 minutes away on foot. The campsite also offers quick and easy access to the beach it is named after, Cala del Aceite. This beach is much larger than Cala del Faro, and makes for a nice change of scenery.
