Great location, quiet room

Overall, nice stay! Hotel is centrally located, very convenient for reef tours, esplanade, bars and restaurants. Rooms come at different service levels, etc. Ours looked “out” onto an internal wall, which turned out to be great in terms of noise. Super quiet room! Our room also came with no housekeeping, which seems to be a popular option in Australia. This means that you have to restock your own room at the front desk/ reception. Other than this, room was in great condition! Would recommend hotel!

We are very snobby and this is easily the best hotel room we have ever had. We want to copy the bathroom design into our own home.

Couldn’t sleep

Though staff were friendly and helpful, the place was very noisy, especially if your room is next to the lift. Noise coming from guests within the hotel as well as outside.

Ant-infested dump and fraudulent charges

I think this genuinely may have been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel. I booked a 3-night stay. I didn’t see the room properly until midnight, at which point I found thousands of tiny little ants all over my room, and disgusting unidentified stains all over the bedsheets hidden underneath the duvet. I wasn’t able to go elsewhere at midnight despite phoning probably every hotel in Cairns, so they found me another room which was clean enough, and I left the next morning to the promise of a refund of 2 nights of my stay. This was not the end of the saga. It later turned out that they had taken 2 large payments from my account for no reason. They refunded one of these, as well as the original refund for the unused nights, but I am still yet to receive the second back. It is pending in my bank account, the hotel said they couldn’t find it, and they haven’t responded to my email. Overall, this hotel took close to 3x the original cost of the stay, essentially emptying my bank account. The entrance was also a popular spot for people taking drugs - not to pass judgement on people in terribly unfortunate life circumstances, but as a woman alone it felt very unsafe having large groups of people yelling and lunging at me whenever I entered and left.
