Worst place ever

Posted 4 Aug 2019 on Hotels
Pros: The hotel is beautiful. Cons: there is nothing around the hotel, you are isolated, which is good in some cases. However, they knows that you can only eat at their restaurant. For this reason, prices are really too high. They charge everything and the prices are too high since there are not taxi or tricycle or restaurant. There is no internet in the hotel, even if they say that there is. They have some tours, twice the price of coron. Never again, wasted money.

Accommodation, pool and staff were great, as were the sunsets. Private island tour was excellent. Beach isn’t good to swim in but we used a kayak. Food poor and no other options nearby as so remote. No atmosphere in the restaurant/bar, could have done with some background music. Everyone left straight after dinner and the staff were waiting for us to go so they could go home. The owner also sat at the bar smoking all day. He seemed pleasant but didn’t interact with guests. Saying this we loved our relaxing stay at cashew grove and if the food was better would go back.

Nice but...

Posted 27 Aug 2018 on Hotels
They stay was lovely. A few pointers travelers might want to know, this resort is literally in the middle of no where, so the resort is the only option you have for food. You get free breakfast, and lunch and dinner will be a tad overpriced since you have no options around. The food is good. It’s very humid here for paying a little extra for a room with AC is a good idea. If you are afraid of dogs, this might not be the place for you. Serval stray dogs roam the resort. However they were all very sweet and mostly just hoping for some scraps to eat. The staff is also very accommodating and kind. We did have over $200 USD of mistakes on our bill that had to be rectified. Mostly double charges for food and our hotel room. But all was corrected.

Cashew grove

Posted 13 Aug 2018 on Hotels
The owners of the resort where in attendance whilst we stayed and they would stand around at reception and smoke. Smoke would go around the dining area and around the pool area. Whilst we stayed the mosquitoes where as bad as anything like I have never seen before. The resort is isolated from everything and you can only get meals and such from the resort at an extra fee. The rooms have a timber floor between upstairs and downstairs and it sounded like the people above were moving furniture around all day and night so no sound barrier. The meals were good and the staff lovely but it’s a very isolated place. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday it’s a great place to swim in the pool or at the beach which has a lot of seaweed it not a great deal more to do unless you want to pay for day tours.

Lovely small resort on remote beach

Posted 8 Mar 2018
Pros: Loved the pool, restaurant (night dining set up on the sand), bar, and service overall was fantastic. The snorkelling. In room tea/coffee/ hot water.
Cons: Maybe a bedside light for fan rooms. I had to stand on bed to reach chain to turn on and off light at night (integrated unit) as I wanted fan on.
Location: Snorkeling, boat tours, island hopping, kayaking, diving, swimming. Long way from Coron so not ideal for tours based there. And dive sites limited.
Loved my 7 night stay -bed and the bedooms bigger than expected with large outdoor bathrooms . Thatched roofs with netting and views of either beach or pool. Right on the beach which is a very shallow lagoon out until the reef drops off - you can swim. Snorkel or kayak easily. Boat tours were all interesting and diving arranged through a partnership with another resorts dive shop worked well.

Transportation Dilemma

Posted 11 Feb 2018
Cons: Transportation should be included or at least the cost should be more clearly explained.
Location: This hotel is to escape from the city.
The cost of the transportation to reach the hotel may cost you as much as it cost to stay at the hotel. Please check before you book. We decided to forfeit our booking because of the remote location of the hotel and the cost of transportation FROM/TO the hotel.

Lovely hotel

Posted 28 Dec 2017
Was so nice to get to Cashew after the busy Coron town. Lovely resort on the beach. We weren’t aware before we went though that the menu is set with set times and only one of two options and very expensive (650 pesos per person for dinner) for small meals. not much to do if you don’t do a dugong tour and if the weather is bad like it was when we were there the WiFi doesn’t work and not much to do but play pool or sit in room. Lovely rooms and nice pool. Would recommend however as long as people are aware about the limited menu.

Quiet, beautiful and isolated

Posted 18 Dec 2017
We were originally going to spend three days here but liked it so much that we stayed for six. The beach cottages are large and comfortable. The restaurant is lovely. The staff are helpful and welcoming. There’s a nearby dive shop that can take you to a neighboring island or out to see dugong; you can rent motorcycles; the hike to the village is nice.

Rustic gateway by the sea shore

Posted 5 Nov 2017
Fatastic location for a traveller who looks peaceful gateway. A place to meditate. The resort is just stone cast from the sea shore. You can hear the sound of the waves in your rustic style bungalow. No aircon. Friendly staff. Simple and nice food. There are plenty of activities to do from snorkling, hiking to mountain biking. If you get bored to being in the resort, you can make isalnd hopping or go for a walk to get a climt of local village life.
