Burriana Beach

The enticing water of the Mediterranean Sea, watersports, beach bars and a lively promenade make this one of Nerja’s most-loved beaches.

Enjoy an authentic Mediterranean seaside ambiance at Burriana Beach (Playa Burriana). This is Nerja’s largest and busiest beach, a place adored by both locals and tourists. Come to Burriana Beach to swim in the warm water and have fun trying various aquatic activities. Marvel at the beautiful coastal scenery and dine, drink and shop along the waterfront esplanade.

Arrive early, especially in the summer months, to grab a prime spot on the soft, golden sand. Lay down your towel or rent a sun lounger and umbrella for extra comfort and protection from the hot sun. The beach has public changing facilities, showers and toilets. Lifeguards also patrol the beach, thus making it a family-friendly and safe environment for children.

Take a refreshing swim in the clean water and join the active beachgoers playing volleyball. Cruise along the rugged coastline via rented kayak or paddleboat or go for an exhilarating ride on a Jet Ski. The quiet bays of La Caleta de Maro and Maro Beach are both accessible by kayak or Jet Ski. Join diving and snorkeling trips and marvel at an aerial view of the town on a parasailing tour.

Select from many places to eat and drink along Burriana Beach. Sample grilled meats, paella and other seafood dishes at a chiringuito, a bar located right on the beach. Sip sangria while watching the sun go down.

Stroll along Paseo Maritimo Antonio Mercero, a waterfront promenade lined with bars, cafés, seafood restaurants and ice cream parlors. Browse the souvenir shops and purchase inflatable toys, soccer balls and beachwear.

Walk to Burriana Beach in 15 minutes from the Balcón de Europa. Parking is available on Paseo Maritimo Antonio Mercero, although spaces fill quickly in summer and on weekends.

By foot, Burriana Beach is a 20-minute walk from Nerja’s town center. Be aware that the journey involves walking down a steep incline known locally as Cardiac Hill. You can also access the beach on foot from the adjacent Carabeillo Beach.
