Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent service. Small construction going on. Did not bother us, just cosmetics.

The floor had a slippery film on it that felt greasy. The shower door wouldn't remain closed. The room and bed felt wet for some reason. Not a good experience at all.

NO idea the hotel was under construction. On top of that the pool was closed. Our room smelled musty and so did we/our clothes/our suitcases when we left.

Desk staff seemed helpful to a point, but unprepared to answer questions we had/provide sufficient solutions. There was active construction on the roof and on our floor. Drying joint compound in the 3rd floor hallway and lots of dust and joint compound chunks along the floor. Our room 316 had a little smell and lots of condensation on the bathroom door and door frame. There were spots of mildew on the ceiling, as well as discolored areas which looked to be saturated with moisture as well. I went to the desk to ask for a different room, and we were given room 320. Still smelly, and right down the hall from our previous room. Concerned about air quality, we stayed at a different hotel.

There's really not much not to like about this property! Quiet location, close to restaurants and shopping mall. Great customer service beggining as the front desk and overall feeling of comfort. Our hotel room was sparkling clean and the restrooms were very nice. Hotel staff super friendly and what's not to like about an everyday happy hour from 5pm to 8pm...and let's not forget their completely decked out breakfast area from 6am to 9am which put other hotels breakfast's to shame. We're definitely coming back to La Quinta by Wyndham at Brownsville Texas!!!

It was not a bad place to stay. But water has strong chlorine smell. Even you cannot wash your mouth or shower. May be that was the city problem.
