Surf on the wild waves that meet this scenic stretch of sand, which is pleasingly quiet compared to some of Búzios less secluded beaches.

Praia Brava, or Brava Beach, is a wonderful place to enjoy the raw beauty of Búzios’ coastline. Although it is by no means untouched, it is significantly more peaceful than some of the beaches on the more populated western side of the peninsula. Make the journey here to enjoy beautiful views and good surfing.

Búzios is known for its gorgeous beaches and Brava Beach is every bit as stunning as all the others. However, it is much less developed than the more accessible beaches across the peninsula. This is partly because of its location and partly because of the wildness of its waters. Come here early on a weekday morning and you could have the place all to yourself. However, arrive early enough and you may also end up sharing the beach with local fishermen. Watch as their boats make their way out to sea from the dramatic rocks that surround the beach.

Rent a surfboard before you come to the beach, as the conditions here are perfect for surfing, bodyboarding and stand-up paddleboarding. At certain times of the day, you can also swim here, but do pay careful attention to the tides as their power can change quickly.

Although the beach is often fairly quiet, you will find some useful facilities nearby. A small number of hotels and eating and drinking spots are gathered close to the beach. Walk to the other side of the peninsula, between 20 and 30 minutes away, for a much wider selection of stores, cafés, bars and restaurants.

Visit Brava Beach to enjoy a change of pace at any time. Even when the water is at its wildest and swimming or surfing may not be advisable, this is a fantastic place to take photos, admire perfect ocean views or simply relax. Bring picnic things and plenty of reading material and you will soon discover how easy it is to let several hours slip by in this lovely spot.
