Bask in the Mediterranean sun or float out to sea for unforgettable views of Marseille’s southern shorefront.

With a pleasant promenade and a sandy waterfront, Borély Beach is a great place to enjoy the summer sun with family and friends. Popular bars and restaurants provide delicious food and drink options along the beachfront and Borély Park is close by for more sightseeing.

The beach area is a great place for a swim in summer. Stretch out on the spacious beachfront to work on your tan or rent a chair and an umbrella and enjoy a book accompanied by the fresh sea breeze.

Rent a boat and bob on the gentle swells as you take in the incredible views back onto the coastline of Marseille. Or, bring your own inflatable tube and float out from the shoreline.

Spend the day in the water, and then head to the boutiques, bars and dining options that line the promenade. Enjoy a drink on the open-air terraces as you watch the sun sink towards the Mediterranean horizon. Join some friends and share Marseille’s famous seafood and crêpes to end a relaxing day.

Kids will love beachcombing along the sandy cove. Be sure to take them on a ride of “La Grande Roue,” the nearby Ferris wheel, which provides marvelous views of Marseille’s landmarks and parklands.

Other facilities at Borély Beach include a lifeguard station, toilets and lockers, a volleyball area and a skateboarding park.

Take advantage of the beach’s proximity to the adjacent Borély Park. With its green open spaces, botanic garden and museum attractions, it’s a great addition to a summer day at the beach.

Borély Beach is easily accessible by bus from the city center. Parking spaces are available around the neighboring streets, though it can get quite crowded in summer. The Ferris wheel is open year-round and charges a small fee.
