I'll start by saying that I'm not a comfortable complainer. I also don't like to leave generally negative reviews, but I can only speak as I find.
I've spent a month touring Europe alone on my motorbike so I've spent a lot of time (and money) on various styles of hotels with varying price brackets.
First the positives - front of house staff were friendly and the view was main selling point.
The negatives -
- My room was not clean, especially the bathroom. Sink and toilet stained and the bin not emptied from previous occupant who had left a big clump of trimmed pubic(?) hair.
- No air conditioning doesn't really bother me, as long as I can leave a window or door open to get some fresh air. I had my door open for an hour in the evening and the room became infested with many different types of bugs... I mean literally crawling everywhere.
- The food was poor, steak overcooked, breakfast options not great compared to every other hotel I stayed at during a month of travelling and 15 different hotels. I also felt quite ill the next day and think it was the food that caused that.
- Price. Given this hotel is double the cost of other hotels I've stayed at nearby in Vianden where I have stopped many times during previous trips, I'd expected standards above those places, not lower.
I did flag the cleanliness issue to the manager at check out, which I don't normally do. He took the point but said nothing he could do & I should have said earlier. Really, could have been much better!

Posted 19 Jan 2019 on HotelsStayed one night very comfortable very clean balcony overlooking beautiful nature reserve it was handy having a restaurant on site if you don’t what to drive into the town evening meal lovely as was breakfast very friendly people would definitely stay again

Hidden gem
Posted 24 May 2016Incredible view from a mountain side overlooking a valley where a river splits a beautiful town and separates two countries (Luxembourg and Germany). Perfect "reset" getaway.

One of the best
Posted 2 Apr 2012 on HotelsThis is a charming hotel, great service, excellent food, friendly atmosphere and stunning views across the valley. What a great place to stay whether you are on holiday or just passing through. We stopped here to break our journey between Amsterdam and Geneva.
Make sure to ask Hermann for a WLAN stick to put in your laptop. If you use the normal wi-fi here you could pay as much as 40 Euros for 24 hours. With Hermann's stick it was only 12 Euros.
