Tour of Scotland
Posted 14 Sep 2019 on HotelsLooked like it had closed down. No electric in bar or restaurant so had to eat evening meal elsewhere. Shabby and in desperate need of an upgrade. It was clean and we did get a bigger room for the 3 of us. Breakfast greasy.

Convenient spot in Alyth.
Posted 18 Aug 2019 on HotelsLovely spot overlooking the river, staff were wonderful, welcoming and helpful. Also dried our some very wet walking gear for us. Big thank you. Comfortable bed, good shower.
Breakfast was somewhat basic and service a bit slow, but otherwise fine.

Serving staff pleasant and helpful. Nice breakfasts but could do with fresh fruit and yoghurts.
Cleanliness issues - clothes found in drawer when checked in, empty crisp packet and sweet wrapper behind bedside cabinet, hairs in bath plug hole, stains on mattress protector. Daily cleaning and change of towels lacking. Replenishment of bathroom accessories a nd tea/coffee etc lacking.Little reasonable storage. Expelair and light not working. Had to run tap for 5 mins to get hot water. Could feel springs in mattress. Furnishing VERY tired looking. Thin curtains.

Same as last review same party but please look at our previous reviews Hotel is not dirty, everyone is offered a full Scottish Breakfast that is cooked to order not a buffet,
As to youths in Square never had this mentioned before but if there was not common place and not really in our control.

Positive : The staff were friendly.
Negative : Thin springy mattresses, 2/3 light bulbs missing, non-working light over bathroom mirror, 5 mins for hot water, dirty and in desperate need of updating, cracks in walls and ceiling, cheap soaps, swinging, non-closing sliding door to bathroom, noisy in the evenings from local youths in town square, and no BBC on room TV!! (Hotel staff’s response was - there has never been BBC in that room)

The Hotel may need updating but it is not dirty in any way,
These Guests were not nice to the staff even though they bent over backwards. The Hot water does take up to 2-3 minutes to run hot but an old coaching hotel and does not seem to bother any one else. I can only say they seemed to want nothing but a discount!!!!

Flooding by the nearby bern about two years ago did significant damage to this hotel. Much renovation has been done with the dining room and lounge areas now fresh and new. Renovations to the pub area are now underway and it too will be very nice when completed. The upstairs rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained.
Every morning we were treated to full breakfast cooked to order. Dinner meals were excellent!
Outstanding is the staff whose hospitality made us feel very welcome! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
