Went here for an anniversary trip with my husband. Check in was from 3-7 pm, we arrived around 6 pm. We dropped off our bags and went out. By the time that we got back and went to bed, I discovered that there wasn't a top sheet on our bed. The next morning, I spoke with the owner and he confirmed w/housekeeping that they had run out of top sheets. How does this happen in such a "small hotel"?! At this point, I had also noticed a very dirty toilet base, with urine and dust, like it hadn't been wiped down in some time. YUCK!! On my way back to my room, I passed a young girl who was part of the housekeeping team. I showed her the base of the toilet and asked her to put a top sheet on our bed. We requested housekeeping duties for our room and left for the day. Upon our return late that night, the top sheet was on and our toilet had been wiped down but all of our dirty towels were still on the bathroom floor. Additionally, the empty toilet paper roll was left on the stand. With no clean towels in the bathroom, we had to actually find someone (in the kitchen) who had to locate clean towels for us. Overall, a very disappointing stay.......

I’m surprised that you felt the need to leave a poor review after already bringing this matter to our attention, which we addressed promptly.We sincerely apologize for the initial oversight with the top sheet. As you were staying in one of our two King-bedded rooms, we maintain a limited supply of those sheets. Due to the high occupancy just prior to your arrival, and with our linen service being closed over the weekend, we were unable to provide the top sheet right away. However, fresh sheets, including the duvet cover, were made available for you. I was also informed that you requested double the usual number of towels we provide, which is typically two per guest. We do our best to accommodate any special requests, and I apologize if this was not communicated clearly during your stay.Additionally, my Housekeeping staff reported that the bathroom had been soiled during your stay, and unfortunately, your interaction with our staff was less than courteous. We always aim to provide a respectful and comfortable environment, and I regret that this situation was not handled better.

The suite we had in the carriage house was very room and comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would recommend this facility to anyone going to Bennington, VT

Owner was not terribly customer friendly. So whilst this is. Lovely place to stay the service could be improved.

Thank you for your visit and review, Maura; I apologize if I was not as bubbly and cheerful as you expected. I had had a minor heart attack that week and had just been discharged from the hospital. So I was a little weak and tired. I will try to do better. I appreciate your understanding.

Thank you for visiting us and for your feedback. We apologize for the breakfast not being available while you were here. Our Cook had a heart attack and needed some time off. We were not able to find a replacement at short notice. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It was a nice change from regular hotels. Will always stay there if I’m in Bennington and can’t recommend them enough.

Unique stay. We enjoyed it. Of note, no reception past 7p. We didnt realize enough bath towels were provided until after 7p and therefore nothing could be done. The appliance with usb charging capability didnt work. I mentioned this to the manager in the am but he dodnt seem to care.

Thank you for your feedback. As a small business, we can not afford to have the front office or housekeeping staff available 24 hours a day. However, staff in the restaurant are available to help our guests with any requests after 7 p.m. I'm sorry if this was not explained to you. We usually place four towels in the two-bedded rooms. The service attendants have been reminded to do this if that was not the case. After investigation, I found the charger in the room to be fully functional. I believe it was just turned off. Please advise what made you assume the manager did not care when you mentioned this to him? I believe you spoke to me. As the owner, I assure you I care about all our customers, my home, and my business. While my response may not have been as emotional as you expected, it doesn’t diminish the level of care. Thank you!
