Hotel Santiago in Benavente is an excellent first class 5 stars Hotel. Great service and beautiful rooms. Located walking distance to downtown with shops, restaurants and a splendid Spaniard architecture and old streets. Across the hotel is the La Rocha restaurant, considered the best in the area , delicious home cooked food. Complete dinner €12 including an appetizer, main course, desert, and a bottle of house wine. Definitely our favorite during our trip!

Staff don’t care. In particular, booked the room without breakfast thinking I would be gone early. While leaving in the morning later than I thought around 9am I asked for a coffee. Which I expect to pay for. Was told I couldn’t because I didn’t order breakfast the day before. I’ll pay for the coffee now , I said. Was told I would have to go down the street to a cafe to get a coffee.
Here is the problem. I’m in a hotel, that is now serving breakfast and as a guest I can’t but a coffee. I have to go down the street to a restaurant which is actually closed. This is stupidly on a whole other level. Receptionist shrugs it off . Doesn’t care.
Nothing wrong with the hotel itself.

Stopever
Posted 30 May 2018 on HotelsWe pulled into this town on a way point from Porto to Santander and picked it from the choices available in Benavente as being a bit more up market, although the hotel was listed as a 3 star I felt it was lower end, the room was quite small compared to most, the bathroom was reasonable and seemed to have all the bells and whistles (gowns, slippers, loads of goodies the wife would know more about than me). The rooms were advertised as non smoking, however as soon as we got in the room it was apparent it wasn't due to the smell (and funny there was an ashtray in the bathroom suggesting otherwise), we were both non smokers so quite off putting. We set the AC to 15 but in the middle of the night it got quite hot and we could not get the AC to work at all, room 104, so the night was quite un-comfy but would be much worse if it was mid summer and not the poor weather we were experiencing at the time. The garage to park the bike was up the road in an underground car park which cost 6 euro's, worth the money to know my bike was safer than leaving it on the street. There was a bar up the road called Manhattan, this was quite a lively bar, good music and the real madrid v Liverpool match was on which made it even livelier when madrid won.

Friendly staff
Posted 22 Apr 2018Friendly staff, hotel close to main square for a choice of restaurants, clean, comfortable room, hotel had made its own information booklet about the area, lovely breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice served by smiling staff member. The staff were obviously proud of their hotel and enjoyed working there.
