Overall a fantastic stay for my 30th birthday! The staff are all so helpful and attentive.
What we loved: Staff gave me a birthday cake surprise at dinner - thank you so much Sayid. The house keeping also decorated my bed with a happy birthday message which was so lovely. Staff were also friendly, attentive that they made sure I was comfortable as I was also pregnant. The dolce vita restaurant was delicious - thanks Kenny for serving us! Our room was comfortable, spacious and very quiet so we couldn’t hear other guests. The food at the buffet was delicious and I liked the variety. You can book a taxi from the hotel. The beach is lovely and clean and on a hot day it’s beautiful to relax there. Lots of activities at the hotel and excursions from hotel available. I also used the spa facilities and enjoyed a massage and facial.
What could be improved: East of the island can be very windy and we went during the winter season and the pool was cold so maybe the hotel could add some heating to the pool. At breakfast first few days there was decafe coffee but then none so for pregnant guests etc. please ensure decafe tea and coffee is available. Also sometimes at breakfast had to wait a long time before you get tea or coffee served. At checkout the porter said it would be few mins to come get our bags from the room (we called at 11:45am) but only came after 1 hour to with the bags which was stressful as taxi to the airport was waiting so have separate checkout & checkin porter!

The staff were very approachable and friendly and the ambience was nice. However food wise, much improvement needed in terms of the variety and 4* standards.
Property is a bit dated. Ambre Suite could do with much improvement, there's big space but not smartly laid out out. Overall I would rate it 7/10.

The Ambre delivered on many fronts and its reputation lies very squarely on its staff. We had excellent service throughout our stay , lots of choice for meals, lots of sun beds (although there was the rush to secure them pretty early and then disappear off to other areas leaving a lack of the more popular ones)
The biggest bug bear for us was the smokers around the pool. There is a dedicated smoking area just outside reception but most smokers lit up at their sun beds....cigarettes, pipes and even little thin cigars. It spoiled the holiday for us...we just couldnt get away from the smoke.
The hotel (while well run and with the beautiful hard working anazing people) was not luxury...it was old and tired in many places..we changed rooms on rhe 1st day due to issues.
I tripped outside the gym and fell cutting my knee which was caused by an uneven raised flagstone.
We loved the view and the weather even the rain....but it wasnt quite as amazing as it looks on photos and videos we saw before we came.
Many thank to the staff. They really are amazing.

The service was horrible right from the start. We even asked to talk to the manager, but the only justification I understood was that all this was happening because we booked through a third party and not direct with the hotel.

Absolutely amazing stay .
The suite was amazing with 2 larges rooms and 1 large bathroom and 1 shower room which was great as we could stay all together mother Dad and 20 years old son . The restaurants are absolutely great and staff look after you in good manners . Food is fresh. I must say they have the best fruits to offer on daily basics. Mauritius food is the best and I will recommamd anyone to try . A special thank you to all the staff for making our stay memorable. Thank you Veema Hotess & Ravi's from Indigo - Thank you Annick from Italian Restaurant - Thank you Shahil the beach boy bringing our drinks and Thank you Dheerej who helped me to book the beach restaurant when it was fully booked. We loved it so much we are planning to review our wedding vase in Mauritius for 2026 .
