Small beds

Posted 26 Dec 2017 on Hotels
I was in Beijing for 4 days, 3 nights. I stayed at the Beijing Alley Youth International Hostel based on a recommendation from a friend that she had stayed there before. It was okay but the beds were too small. I'm 5'9 and couldn't stretch my feet out all the way at night which made for some uncomfortable nights. It didn't help to have 3 roommates who snored but that's what you get with a hostel. For $9/night, I guess i got my moneys worth but next time I'm in Beijing I'll splurge a little more for a better nights sleep. Oh and the wifi didn't reach the room even though I was located directly next to the common room. Not really a big deal...just a little annoying

Noisy at night from bar

Posted 30 Oct 2017
Pros: Good location
Location: Near subway (line 5,6), Wu Mart, restaurants, walk to Lama Temple 20 minutes & walk to Wangfujing street 15 minutes
I was there for 2 nights with 4 dorm beds for female, very noisy at night because some people hanging out at the bar (near my room), bad smell from drains in the toilet, hostel is near subway (Dongsi Station)

Booking mess up

Posted 24 Jul 2017 on Hotels
We arrived as a group who had booked separately. When we arrived, I was told I was moved to a 6 bed rather than a 4 bed, which I didn't mind. However I had been put in a room with some men which apparently is against policy or law? So my room was revoked- at the same time they apparently didn't have room for three of our group who had booked online on the same site- and paid in advance. After about an hour and a half we managed to get it sorted and we all fitted in the hostel, but only after two other people who were staying at the hostel left early because of a leaking room. Rooms smelt like drains other than that it was okay. Wouldn't recommend because of the booking mess up though.

Don't go expecting a palace!

Posted 14 May 2017 on Hotels
The first room we were placed in had lots of flies in it, but when we asked to be moved, we were immediately put in a different room. The staff were helpful and friendly and even though the room wasn't in great condition I would stay here again as the price was so reasonable!

Terrible Stay.

Posted 22 Mar 2017 on Hotels
we ended up staying only 1 night of a 5 night booking (with no refund) after entering a hostel with cats running wild, rabbits in cages too small for them to turn and extremely basic facilities and accommodation. would not recommend.

Its PEOPLE-PERSON that Matters Most

Posted 27 Oct 2016
Pros: The Staff, their friendliness, willingness to please and make your stay as pleasant and problem-free as possible. They are great in every way to make my stay, my comfort and needs: whether that be directions to where I need to go for an event I came to Beijing for, or the safety of my personal belongings, or anything else. These are very important aspects of one's travel and accommodation in any part of the world. I would definitely recommend them to everyone.
Cons: Wet floors, but they cannot help it as the amenities and the weather was not helping but their staff was always making sure the safety and cleanliness was paramount to he Hotel/Hostel.
Location: Ideal as its close to everything: subway, market, shops, boutiques, etc.
